Wall Drug, The Badlands, and Mt. Rushmore

Busy day, for sure.

Wall Drug

We went to Wall Drug and had some fun. I got a hat and a die with a buffalo for the one dot. Jill got a patch and A got a keychain. C made a souvenir penny and we had the free ice water.

The Badlands

Next we went through the badlands. It was pretty impressive. Lots of different colored rock and sweeping grasses.

We went through a wildlife reserve where we saw a huge heard of Bison.

We even got close to them.

Real close.

Mount Rushmore

Next we went to Mount Rushmore.

On the winding roads to it we had a rain that was in the bright sun. The kids liked the gift shop, especially the books. I wish we could have taken our time to learn more, but it was late and we have three kids. Enough said.

We got to our cabin that night, that was all beds without linens, a microwave, and the sets of bunk beds. We ate dinner on the picnic table. There was a bridge behind our cabin that went over the bubbling brook that the kids really enjoyed running across to play tag.

We slept with the windows open and listened to the brook all night. It was really a nice sleep with the fresh air and the stream lulling is to sleep.
