Denver, to Burlington CO

Denver Day #2
We had a great day wandering around the city, going into gift shops, and eating some great food. We rode the city bus around the pedestrian loop,
saw the great big blue bear,
and tried to convince the kids that the gifts from the gift store they wanted weren’t that great. I was surprised about the number of cannabis advertisements that were in Denver, they were definitely pro-pot, more so than it seemed in Oregon and Washington at least. It was a bit much actually.
Lunch
We ate at Sam’s diner and had a great brunch/early lunch. When I was in the bathroom, I saw this great picture:
It was already getting hot and we needed to get on the road, so we went back to the hotel and packed up.
Leaving Denver
The drive out of Denver was surprisingly flat. It seemed that Denver and everything West really just turned into land as flat as that in Kansas or Oklahoma. Our destination that day was to get to Burlington, CO.
Burlington, CO
Well, from the moment we entered Burlington, there was a pervasive smell of manure that was seriously intense. After wandering around the “city”, we realized that our first impressions were accurate, whoever lives here and has done so for years has to question their own sanity. Even the water smelled like manure. The limited dinner choices had us end up at Arby’s, because there were literally very few other choices. They had a Burger King, but the sign didn’t prompt us to go there.
It looked like a scene out of a bad horror movie, honestly.
We were getting ready to go to Kansas City, MO the next day, and as tempting as the experience was to see what kind of other entertainment Burlington had to offer, we retired to our hotel room to get ready for our trip the next day.
